Cette cabane design dans la nature, fait partie des Cabanes Hornby qui ont été conçues par Leckie Studio sur l'île Hornby en Colombie-Britannique, un lieu que l'on atteint depuis Vancouver après avoir pris trois ferries. Mais le jeu en vaut la chandelle lorsqu'on découvre cette cabane design dans la nature, tant elle semble s'intégrer parfaitement à son environnement fait de forêts, avec comme seuls voisins les lions de mer en hiver.
Depuis la crête où elle est construite, la cabane aux lignes contemporaines et identique à la seconde qui se trouve sur l'île, révèle un intérieur largement éclairé par les grandes baies vitrées. Elle est orientée de façon à profiter du paysage, tout en restant à l'abri des regards de sa voisine. Sa façade sombre est faite d'un bardage réalisé avec la technique bien connue désormais du shou sugi ban, appelé également Yakisugi, un procédé naturel qui permet d'éviter des traitements chimiques, peu en accord avec la démarche écologique des cabanes. Son esthétique à la fois design et traditionnelle est une vraie réussite pour ce projet à la démarche durable réalisé par les professionnels talentueux de Leckie studio, dont l'architecte principal Mickael Leckie est un expert en maisons préfabriquées après avoir fondé l'entreprise The Backcountry Hut Co dont je vous ai parlé dans cet article.
This design cabin in the wilderness is one of the Hornby Cabins designed by Leckie Studio on Hornby Island in British Columbia, a place that can be reached from Vancouver after taking three ferries. But it's worth it when you see this designer cabin in the wild, as it seems to fit in perfectly with its forest surroundings, with only sea lions as neighbours in winter.
From the ridge where it is built, the cabin, with its contemporary lines and identical to the second one on the island, reveals an interior that is largely lit by the large windows. It is oriented so as to take advantage of the landscape, while remaining sheltered from the eyes of its neighbour. Its dark façade is made of a cladding made with the well-known technique of shou sugi ban, also called Yakisugi, a natural process that avoids chemical treatments, not very much in line with the ecological approach of the huts. Its design and traditional aesthetics are a real success for this sustainable project by the talented professionals of Leckie studio, whose main architect Mickael Leckie is an expert in prefabricated houses after having founded the company The Backcountry Hut Co which I mentioned in this article.
