Situé dans un immeuble du siècle dernier, un banal panelák – un de ces immeubles en béton typiques d’Europe de l’Est – ce lieu a été métamorphosé par les architectes d’Iva Hajkova Studio. Le résultat est un endroit auquel la rénovation et la lumière ont donné une nouvelle vie. Cet appartement lumineux et contemporain à Prague, dans le quartier de Žižkov que ses propriétaires envisageaient de quitter, est désormais conforme à leurs envies. D’abord pensé comme un logement banal à revendre rapidement, il a pris une tout autre dimension grâce à l’intervention de ces professionnels.
La première étape a consisté à abattre la cloison qui séparait le salon d’une pièce attenante. À la place, une paroi translucide en blocs de verre a été installée. Ce matériau, reconnaissable à sa texture verdâtre, laisse passer la lumière tout en préservant l’intimité. Derrière, un espace polyvalent peut accueillir un bureau ou une zone de sport. Autre fil conducteur : le sol en terrazzo, aux éclats verts, rosés, beiges et gris, donne du rythme et de la cohérence à l’ensemble. Les textiles, soigneusement choisis, apportent douceur et intimité là où le béton domine comme le rideau devant la cloison de verre. Located in a last-century, ordinary panelák – one of these typical Eastern European concrete block of flats – this flat has been transformed by the architects of Iva Hajkova Studio. The result is a place that renovation and light have given new life. This bright and contemporary apartment in Prague's Žižkov district, which its owners were planning to leave, now meets their needs. Initially conceived as a mundane dwelling for quick resale, it took on a whole new dimension thanks to the intervention of these professionals.
The first step was to tear down the partition that separated the living room from an adjoining room. Instead, a translucent glass block wall was installed. This material, recognisable by its greenish texture, allows light to pass through while preserving privacy. Behind, a versatile space can accommodate an office or a sports area. Another common thread: the terrazzo floor, with its green, pink, beige, and grey fragments, gives rhythm and coherence to the whole. The carefully chosen textiles bring softness and intimacy where concrete dominates, like the curtain in front of the glass partition.
