30sqm and no sense of claustrophobia in this studio with glass blocks
This 30sqm studio apartment with a designer decor is cleverly laid out with glass blocks, an open kitchen and an alcove bedroom
In this 30sqm studio, designer Alsu Petrina met the clients’ needs. She created a pleasant rental space, organized into several well-defined zones. She sought to open up the views, play with light, and structure the space without using walls.
Upon entering, you’re drawn to the floor-to-ceiling window that immediately catches the eye. Light floods through the apartment, and the choice of light-colored furniture accentuates the sense of space in this small apartment. The neutral color palette of the walls provides the perfect backdrop for a decor with colorful accents. The wood flooring adds a warm touch to this contemporary setting.
Its kitchen is slightly separated from the living area by a partial glass block partition. These blocks cast shifting reflections depending on the time of day. This material creates a subtle separation without closing off the space or blocking the light. The wooden cabinet fronts in the kitchen also add a warm touch here.
The living area centers around a yellow sofa that energizes the room. Placed near the window, it takes full advantage of the natural light and the view. The folding, transparent seats of the dining chairs are lightweight and add a touch of mid-century retro style. A slim black shelf has been added to display objects and books.
The designer has set up the bedroom in an alcove behind the kitchen’s glass partition. A curtain allows this space to be closed off as needed. The bedroom features discreet storage with a mirrored front that amplifies the light. The convertible table transforms into a desk in seconds and optimizes the space. Its entryway has simple, well-thought-out storage that’s easy to use on a daily basis. The bathroom has retained its original layout and has been furnished with practical and discreet fixtures.
