An interior renovation focused on wood with Wood Estudio
Wood Estudio relied on wood for the interior renovation of an apartment that has been given a new lease on life thanks to this material
Some spaces have potential, but they lack that extra touch of character. As soon as you walk in, you sense that something isn’t quite right. The square footage is there, but the overall feel isn’t appealing. This was exactly the situation Wood Estudio encountered when the owners of this apartment in Spain asked them to handle the interior renovation. And since this design studio lives up to its name, the solution was quickly found: add wood... Just wood.
Estibaliz and José, the studio’s two designers, have a clear vision: wood isn’t just a material, it can do it all. It can be contemporary, rustic, or modern depending on how it’s worked. The first step was to tackle the walls. Wood Estudio installed wood panels on the entryway partitions. The paneling now incorporates the hallway door to make it less visible, creates a strong visual element, and gives the entryway real character. Gone is the plain white-painted wall.
In the living room, the studio kept the existing fireplace, at the owners’ request. The designers clad it in wood and added a porcelain tile frame, making it the focal point of the room. On the left, a wall panel now houses the television with a low cabinet illuminated from within. On the right, a shelf conceals a fold-away desk.
Wood Estudio never considers lighting independently of the material. Multiple lighting atmospheres overlap, general lighting, indirect light, directional spotlights, to reveal the grain and volumes of the wood and bring the space to life. The chosen hues also play their part. Sand, off-white, greige: soft colors perfect for making the space even cozier.
This project is not just about aesthetics. Wood, when sourced from sustainably managed forests, reduces the carbon footprint of an interior renovation. It naturally regulates indoor humidity, and its thermal mass stores heat more evenly than a standard wall. Decorating with wood also means choosing a living material that evolves with the home. This apartment, which had lost its personality, has found a new one, authentic, warm, and consistent from the entryway to the living room.

A versatile material

The fireplace as the centerpiece

Light, a discreet ally
Wood Estudio never considers lighting independently of the material. Multiple lighting atmospheres overlap, general lighting, indirect light, directional spotlights, to reveal the grain and volumes of the wood and bring the space to life. Decor and the environment: the two go hand in hand
