L'entreprise Relevant Buildings basée au Colorado a créé cette mini maison container de 42m2, baptisée Ramona 40 pour un couple qui voulait un ADU (Accessory Dwelling Unit) dans leur jardin, pour leur fille malade qui devait résider près d'eux. La maison a été conçue à l'aide d'un container de 40 pieds à l'arrière et d'une extension à ossature bois à l'avant. C'est une conception hybride, construite en atelier qui a été livrée d'un seul tenant sur le terrain. Devant la réussite du modèle, l'entreprise a décidé de la mettre au catalogue pour un prix de 60.000 $ aux USA, ce qui est très abordable pour ce type de maison.
Le parement en bois permet à ce modèle de mieux s'intégrer dans certaines régions qui rechignent à autoriser ce style de construction. Elle est conçue comme un deux-pièces à l'intérieur, avec un salon et sa cuisine ouverte, une chambre et une salle de bain. Une terrasse a été aménagée pour profiter de l'extérieur. The house was designed using a 40ft container at the rear and a timber-framed extension at the front. It's a hybrid, workshop-built design that was delivered in one piece to the site. Given the success of the model, the company decided to put it on the catalogue for a price of $60,000 in the USA, which is very affordable for this type of house.
The wood cladding means that this model fits in better with certain regions that are reluctant to authorise this type of construction. The interior is designed as a one-bedroom, with a living room with open-plan kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. A terrace has been laid out to make the most of the outdoors.
