À Apeldoorn, aux Pays-Bas, la styliste Liza Wassenaar signe ce relooking ethnique et contemporain aux influences africaines subtiles. Le couple de propriétaires de la maison, Mirthe et Matthijs rêvaient d’un intérieur plus chaud rappelant leurs souvenirs africains. Leur maison restait pourtant très neutre, avec des murs blancs et un sol gris assez froid. La professionnelle mandatée par le magazine VT Wonen, a donc réalisé un relooking mêlant esprit ethnique et modernité avec finesse. Elle a commencé par travailler sur les textiles, en choisissant des imprimés africains pour les coussins et le banc de la salle à manger. Des œuvres murales aux textures inspirées du sable renforcent cette ambiance douce sans basculer dans le thème de façon trop littérale.
Plusieurs plantes graphiques, comme les cactus, viennent soutenir cette atmosphère chaleureuse. La grande armoire murale devient l’élément phare du projet et relie visuellement les espaces. Sa ligne épurée crée un lien cohérent entre la cuisine, la salle à manger et le salon. Une nouvelle porte vitrée modifie aussi le plan et offre un emplacement idéal pour la table à manger. Pour ajouter une touche chic souhaitée par Matthijs, Liza a intégré un éclairage discret dans l’armoire. Le sol ancien, jugé trop froid, a été remplacé par un PVC. In Apeldoorn, the Netherlands, stylist Liza Wassenaar has created this ethnic and contemporary makeover with subtle African influences. The couple who own the house, Mirthe and Matthijs, dreamed of a warmer interior reminiscent of their African memories. However, their home remained very neutral, with white walls and rather cold grey floors. The professional commissioned by VT Wonen magazine therefore created a makeover that skilfully blends ethnic spirit and modernity. She began by working on the textiles, choosing African prints for the cushions and the dining room bench. Wall art with textures inspired by sand reinforces this soft atmosphere without leaning too heavily into the theme.
Several graphic plants, such as cacti, add to this warm atmosphere. The large wall cabinet becomes the centrepiece of the project and visually connects the spaces. Its clean lines create a coherent link between the kitchen, dining room and living room. A new glass door also changes the layout and provides an ideal location for the dining table. To add a touch of chic, as requested by Matthijs, Liza incorporated discreet lighting into the cabinet. The old floor, considered too cold, was replaced with PVC.
